Union, Washington, a sparkling jewel located on the south shore of the "Great Bend" of Hood Canal, offers the traveler outstanding recreational activities, fine dining and opportunities for playing in a unique environment.

Vistas include the snow capped Olympic Mountains and the Hood Canal.

The Hood Canal Marina in Union has modern gas and diesel fuel facilities and enviroguard covered short term moorage if you want to boat to Union along the Hood Canal. The marina rents out kayaks and pedal boats when the weather is warm.

The Hood Canal is salt water from the ocean. You can see jellyfish from the pier of the marina and dig for clams nearby. Anglers fish the "great bend" of the Hood Canal for chum salmon from late October through November. The nearby town of Hoodsport puts on a chum salmon fishing derby.

Traveler Days is an annual Union, WA festival that started because of a natural phenomenon called "The Traveler." The Traveler is like the Man on the Moon; it is the figure of a traveler with a walking staff. He can be seen in the shadows that form on Mt Washington as seen from Union, WA from late April to early May.

The official dates of the Traveler Days festival are Earth Day to Mother's Day each year. Local restaurants and wineries give out free samples to the public. Local art galleries display works in public view amid the stunning natural scenery of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains. The Pumpkin Festival at Hunter Farms in Union, WA is most famous for the last Saturday before Halloween, when huge catapults hurl pumpkins! The pumpkin festival goes on the whole month of October, though, with children picking their favorites in acres and acres of pumpkin patches.

Attractions near Union in Washington include the Skokomish Tribal Nation with its Lucky Dog Casino and Olympic National Forest.

Union is just two hours from Seattle if you take the Bremerton ferry. These ferry rides give you great views of Seattle from the water, and you drive right on to the ferry. From Bremerton, Union is half an hour southwest along highways 3 and 106. Ferries leave Seattle for Bremerton approximately every hour. For ferry fares and schedules check with the WA Department of Transportation.
