The Suiattle River is federally protected under the Wild & Scenic Rivers act. It's in the Northern Cascades near Darrington. It's a class 2 to 3 through a lush mountain valley, with waterfalls and snow capped peaks all around. Moss covered trees line the rivers edge, giving you a feeling that civilization is a million miles away. Wildlife can often be spotted on the banks and include deer, water birds, and sometimes even an occasional bear. Logjams are the main hazard on this river. The water carries a lot of glacial silt giving the water a milky appearance. Since the Suiattle's water source is glacial, the hotter weather brings more water and the best levels for rafting are in July and August.
