Heavens Gate Lookout

Heavens Gate Lookout is one of the best viewpoints in Hells Canyon. At 8,400 feet elevation, Heavens Gate offers grand views of the Seven Devil Mountains.

In 1924 the first lookout was a log cabin with cupola, lasting until it's destruction in 1958 by a forest fire. The present lookout was built in 1978 and is administered by Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and has been staffed.
