Dam

Bonneville Lock and Dam
Located near Cascade Locks, OR and North Bonneville, WA, the Bonneville Lock and Dam was part of Roosevelt’s New Deal. There is alot of recreational activities including fishing areas, hiking trails and recreation areas. To request a tour of the Dam call 541-374-8820. Museums and Exhibits

Historical Museum and Oregon Pony. Marine Park (next to Museum), Cascade Locks, OR 97031. Phone: 541-374-8535.

Built in 1905, the museum is one of three original locks tender's houses. Highlights of the museum include the Oregon Pony, (the first steam engine used in the Oregon Territory. Also the first of its kind to be built on the Pacific Coast), River Locks, Columbia Gorge Native American History, and regional history.

Some of the most beautiful country can be seen at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area which spans over 290,000 acres from southern Washington and northern Oregon.

Located in the Columbia River Gorge, Ainsworth State Park is known for the world's greatest concentration of high waterfalls (like Multnomah Falls).

Located one mile west of Multnomah Falls on I-84 at milepost 30, Benson Recreation Area is popular for picnicking and even has a reservable shelter for groups.

Located near milepost 28 on the Historic Columbia River Scenic Highway and accessed off I-84 at Exit 28 Bridal Veil Falls Park features two trails: the upper walking/interpretive trail on the cliffs of the Gorge offering stunning views of the Gorge and the lower hiking trail is about a 1 mile round trip downhill that is steep and with lots of switchbacks delivering you at the base of the falls. There are picnic tables and restrooms within easy walking distance from the parking area.

The Park welcomes thousands of visitors every year for sailing, fishing, camping, a ride on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler, outdoor and indoor concerts, Movie in the Park nights, weddings or events on Thunder Island, or just a picnic. The Park is the perfect day-use place to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Columbia River Gorge. The Park features free parking, a children's playground, picnic tables, public restrooms, and free Wi-Fi.

Starvation Creek is a small day-use park located at the base of the sheer walls of the Columbia Gorge. There are hiking trails and one of the few waterfalls in this area.

With easy access to the Columbia River, Viento has some of the best windsurfing in the Gorge. A one-mile, fully handicapped accessible trail from Viento to the Starvation Creek waterfall takes you along a section of the Historic Columbia River Highway. Open year-round for day use.

Part of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, the Bridge of Gods Trailhead provides green and lush scenery. The Pacific Crest Trail and several other Forest Service trails intersect this segment of the trail.

Historic Columbia River Highway
This 70 mile/112.7 km scenic byway takes you to overlooks that offer amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge and many waterfalls, featuring Multnomah Falls. See a variety of colorful wildflowers in the spring. The Columbia River formed the last leg of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and was part of the early route of the Oregon Trail. Plan anywhere from a 2 hour drive to 3 to 5 days depending upon your agenda.

Multnomah Falls
Located in Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Multnomah Falls is an ancient waterfall cascading 620 feet in two different sections, attracting almost 2 million visitors annually. This is the second highest year round waterfall in the U.S. To get there, travel west on Interstate 84 to exit 35, Ainsworth State Park. Follow the Historic Highway west 4 miles to the site's parking area

Seneca Fouts is the third leg of state parks joined together at Mitchell Point. This is a desolate and beautiful area with very rocky terrain.
