Lakes and Rivers

Flathead Lake
Flathead Lake is more than 300 feet deep, extends north and south for 28 miles and is 7 to 15 miles wide and is the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United States. All manner of water sports are enjoyed upon its 200 square miles of surface. Several state parks and lakeshore communities have boat launches and marinas on the Lake.

Outdoor Recreation

Tally Lake Campground has a beach, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, river and stream fishing, boating, swimming and waterskiing, big game, small game and game bird/waterfowl hunting, OHV riding at Ashley Lake ATV Trail #812, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, snowboarding, snowmobiling at Tally Mountain Trail #163 and #163A, mushing and skijoring are activities enjoyed in Flathead National Forest.

Glacier National Park
The West Entrance of Glacier National Park provides access to the Lake McDonald area, Park Headquarters, the Apgar Visitor Center and is the west entry point to the famed 52-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road. Other activities include cross country skiing, boating, fishing, whitewater rafting, hiking and biking trails.

Lake Mary Ronan includes boating, fishing, swimming, dock, ramp, hiking and biking trails.

Lone Pine offers trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, interpretive trail and programs, tours, horseshoe pit, archery range, volleyball court, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing.

West Shore offers boating, fishing, swimming, a concrete ramp, dock, hiking and biking.

Boating, swimming, fishing and waterskiing are popular activities on Whitefish Lake. A mature forest and beach are also found in this small park.
