This travel article on hiking to Hidden Lake Peaks outline points of interest, how to get there, camping options and other information including elevation gain and time it takes to hike this trail.
Hiking Time to Hidden Lake Lookout: 8 hours
Miles: 8 Round trip
Elevation gain: 3,500 feet
High Point: 6,890 feet (Old Fire lookout) with 360 degree view of North Cascades.
The trailhead is at 3500' and the peak summit is at 6890'. The round trip is 8 miles. The peak is north of Glacier Peak and South of Mt. Baker in the North Cascades (near the Skagit River and Ross Lake). There is a lookout tower (actually more of a cabin) on top of the peak. People can camp in it on a first-come-first-serve basis for free. Alternately, you can camp at the lake, but it is a bit hard to get down to it from the ridge and the shoreline of the lake is very steep and rocky. I think most people prefer to make this a day hike, since bringing a full pack up here would be a lot of work. We did this hike in 7 hours. -- Brian High
Drive west on Washington State Route 20, the North Cascades highway, from Burlington.
A convenient campground is Lower Goodell Campground, which is located at Mile Marker 120 on State Route 20 at an elevation of about 600 feet. Drive time from Seattle is about 2-1/2 hours.
For more information about the park, call 206-386-4495.
