Winthrop is a cowboy town located on Washington's North Cascades Scenic Byway (part of the Cascade Loop) in the beautiful and scenic Methow Valley about 9 miles north of Twisp and 14 miles east of Mazama.
This western themed town is a popular tourist destination known for the outstanding outdoor recreational activities including one hundred plus miles of groomed trails for cross country skiing. The Methow River provides ample opportunity for river rafting, fishing along with other water recreation. North Cascades National Park, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and state parks provides horseback riding, hiking, biking and camping adventures. Winthrop is home to the Rhythm and Blues Festival, 49er Days, Winthrop Marathon and Methow Valley Chamber Music Festal.
