Idaho Birding Trail - Custer Motorway Adventure Road
Part of the Idaho Birding Trail, the Custer Motorway Adventure Road
consists of 46 miles of gravel and unimproved dirt roads that follows
the historic wagon road from Challis to the gold mining towns of Custer
and Bonanza a. Travel over a mountain pass at 8,800 feet and explore the
historic mining towns.

Frank Church Wilderness Area
The Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area, the second largest
protected wilderness area in the United States, protects wildlife,
mountain ranges and the Salmon River. Hunting for elk, bighorn sheep,
deer, black bear and mountain lion is popular in the autumn.

Recreational activities at Land of the Yankee Fork include trails for hiking, biking, ATV's and motorbikes, backpacking in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area, hunting and cross country skiing. The Salmon River provides fishing and whitewater rafting opportunities.

Salmon River
Known as the The River of No Return, the Salmon River offers whitewater
rapids near Yankee Fork on the upper river while the lower river
provides fishing, swimming and floating opportunities. The river is
accessed from Highways 93 and 75 from the Salmon River Scenic Byway.
