For a smaller town, Gillette offers an abundance of activities. Summer is the ideal time for a game of golf, go bowling or watching auto racing at the speedway. Winter offers the opportunity to go snow skiing or snowboarding. Nearby Black Hills National Forest and Devil's Tower National Monument provides excellent rock climbing adventures. Outdoor Recreation - National Forest

Located in the northern section of the Black Hills in Wyoming, this forest is all about trout fishing in the Cook Lake Recreation Area, snowmobiling over 300 miles of trails, cross country skiing and snow shoeing, hunting, hiking and camping.

Outdoor Recreation - National Monument

Devil's Tower National Monument. GPS: 44° 35' 23.95″ N; 104° 41' 47.88″ W

Devils Tower National Monument is a world-famous tourist attraction and a monolithic igneous intrusion, or the core of a volcano exposed from erosion and is known for world-class rock climbing.

Outdoor Recreation - State Park

Open year-round, Keyhole State Park is located along the southeast shore of Keyhole Reservoir with excellent fishing for walleye, catfish, small mouth bass and northern pike. There is a small boat ramp for public use at the marina along with a concessionaire where you can purchase bait, tackle and fishing licenses. Other activities include trails for hiking and biking, camping and hunting. This park also has a playground.
