Getting there by monorail
Westlake Center has a direct link to the Space Needle, via the Seattle Center Monorail. The monorail departs from the third floor, and costs $1 to $2.50 for a round trip. It is about a 90-second ride each way.

Getting there by bus
View of Seattle Space Needle.From downtown, via bus number 3 (Madrona) or 4 (Judkins Park), or local 16 whichever comes along first.
Board the northbound bus at the corner of 3rd Avenue and ... Street.
Alight from the bus at the corner of 5th Avenue N. and Thomas Street.
It is about a ...-minute ride each way.

If you don't mind walking a little further at the other end, you can also use the following bus routes which depart from the same bus stop as above. These land you on the west side of Seattle Center, whereas the above land you closer to the Space Needle on the east side of the Center. From downtown, via bus number 1 (...) or 2 (...), or 13 (...) whichever comes along first.
Board the southbound bus at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Pine Street.
Alight from the bus at the corner of 1st Avenue N. and ... Street.
It is about a ...-minute ride each way.

Notes and Tips
The Space Needle is the "queen" of Seattle viewpoints, and is one of Seattle's top attractions for this reason.

At ground level you will find the entrance, gift shop and restrooms.

You will find a gift shop, exhibits, and revolving restaurant at the top of the Needle. Reservations are recommended for the latter. Restrooms are also located at the top. (It is rather a strange feeling to find yourself "enthroned" so high above the city!)

At 52 stories (520 feet) above Seattle, views are taken in from the Observation Deck level, which features both outdoor and indoor viewing.

The Views
The Space Needle offers 360º "bird's eye" views over Seattle and surrounds. On a clear day you can see as far as... Of course the one thing you wont get in your photos is the Space Needle itself, a classic part of Seattle's skyline.

Best time for photos is towards midday when the light is evenly distributed in all directions, or towards nightfall for sunset shots.
