Woodinville, Washington is a small community in the Sammamish Valley located between Seattle and Bellevue. With easy access to highways and transportation, Woodinville is an ideal location to stay in while exploring the Puget Sound region.
Woodinville began as a logging town in the late 19th century, then in the early 20th century became a farming community and finally developing into a suburb of Seattle being incorporated as a city in 1933.
In 1871, Ira Woodin and his wife Susan moved from Seattle and up the Sammamish River to build a cabin, log timber and farm cattle. Gradually a town formed around the cabin which became the first school and Post Office, with Susan Woodin as Postmaster. The first general store was founded by Ira Woodin and his son-in-law Thomas Sanders.
With over 80 wineries and wine tasting rooms, including Chateau Ste. Michelle and the Columbia Winery, Woodinville is known as the winery destination in Washington. Many of the wineries host special events such as tastings, music venues and the popular Passport to Woodinville Weekend. Woodinville is also home to the Redhook Ale Brewery which also offers tours.
With many different accommodations, activities, attractions, dining, and shopping, Woodinville is an ideal spot for a vacation.
