Somers sits at the north end of Flathead Lake about 8 miles south of
Kalispell.
Road
The main routes to Somers are US 93 and MT 82. The closest Interstate is
I-90, which is about 95 miles south of Somers.

Rail
The daily Amtrak passenger service the
Empire Builder runs between Seattle/Portland and Chicago. Nearby depots

Flathead Lake
Extending north and south for 28 miles and 7 to 15 miles wide, Flathead is
the largest natural freshwater lake in the western US. All types of water
sports (boating, windsurfing and fishing) are enjoyed upon its 200 square
miles of surface. Several state parks and lakeshore communities have boat
launches and marinas on the Lake including the nearby town Lakeside and West
Shore State Park.

Located north of Highway 2 and west of Highway 93 the Tally Lake Ranger District offers an abundance of lakes, rivers and streams. These streams are important spawning areas for the Montana State fish, the westslope cutthroat trout. Popular summer recreational activities include backpacking and day hiking, horseback riding, OHV riding, fishing, swimming and boating. Winter recreation includes snowmobiling on over a 150 designated snowmobile trails, back-country skiing, skiing and snowboarding at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area and Whitefish Mountain Resort on Big Mountain, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice fishing.

recreational trails for hiking, running, bicycling, cross country skiing
or snowshoeing for outdoor enthusiast to enjoy year-round. The website

Flathead Lake Salmon Hatchery. 100 Spring Creek Road, Somers, MT 59932. Phone: 406-857-3744.
Located on the shore of Flathead Lake, this hatchery specializes in hatching Kokanee salmon eggs taken from wild spawning runs. On display is an aquarium holding salmon from the previous year. This is the second hatchery built by the State of Montana.

The Somers Bay Cafe is more than a cafe, its also a small museum of sorts with displays of historical photos and artifacts donated by local residents who lived in that time period. A beautiful mural of old Somers Land and the town from 1910 graces the outside deck wall.
