Southwest Wyoming
is full of excitement. Killpecker Sand Dunes is the perfect place to go if your idea of fun is
dunebuggying in the desert playground. You should also keep a watchful eye out for Boar's Tusk, an
ancient volcano core that rises straight out of the ground.
The other such formation in the state is Devil's Tower. If what you're really looking for is a wildlife adventure,
Be sure to check out Flaming Gorge Recreation Area, which surrounds the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The reservoir is 91 miles long, with approximately 375 miles of shoreline. This is considered to be one of the best places to fish in America, with quality trout fishing year round. There is also huge boat launching ramps for those boating enthusiasts.
For even more adventure, visit Fossil Butte National Monument, which used to be Fossil Lake (about 50 million years ago!), an enormous lake stretching 50 miles long and 20 miles wide. Fossilized fish, insects, plants, reptiles, birds, and mammals made up some of the world's best preserved fossils found in this area. The best part is that are still more to find. While you cannot take anything you find at the national monument; Ulrich Quarries is nearby and hardly anyone leaves without something.
